Position Summary


Girls Thinking Global is seeking a part-time Executive Director for no more than 20 hours per week. This person should be well versed in the girls’ movement and passionate about educating and empowering girls in the United States as well as challenging areas around the world. While this position is part-time, as the organization grows, there is potential for this position to expand into a full-time position. Below is an outline of tasks and responsibilities this person will be asked to fulfill.


Responsibilities and Tasks


      • Networking: Network and correspond with partner organizations, keep abreast of ongoing news and activities within the girls movement


      • Administrative: Coordinate and participate in organizational board meetings and communicate critical information to board members; take minutes during board meetings and distribute; maintain membership list for the Girls Thinking Global Collaborative; participate in weekly organizational planning calls


      • Grants & Fundraising: Assist with grant application submissions – compiling
        data, maintaining grant templates and review completed grants prior to
        submission; support all fundraising activities and actively seek out new sources of revenues and donors to benefit the organization overall


      • Communications: Work with public relations firm to craft and distribute press releases and other news items; social media communications and blogging; and correspond with supporters and donors


      • Programming: Work with the CEO, President and Board of directors to determine program priorities, and evaluate opportunities for new programs that are in alignment with the mission of Girls Thinking Global


      • Other: Assist with maintenance (as needed) of the Girls Thinking Global website; other needs as they arise


Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability


      • Fluency in Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint


Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability


      • Background in education field or education policy is a plus
      • Experience with WordPress is a plus
      • Ability to work in a telecommuting (virtual) environment
      • Ideally resides in the Washington, D.C. metro area but willing to consider
        elsewhere for exceptional candidates



      • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
      • Self-motivated
      • Focused and able to work with a virtual team
